Now that you have had a chance to use both a blog and a wiki you are to discuss in this post the differences and benefits of both.
Clearly define the differenes of each.
Clearly define the benefits of each.
Give examples of when using a blog vs. a wiki would be useful and why.
Make sure you are using clear sentences and paragraphs.
I have now used both a blog and a wiki. I am still slightly confused with the wiki. I think that the blog is a great use for a project, but however it seems to be a bit slow. I think that the reason that I think that is because a blog seems to be something you would check once, maybe twice a day. While on the other hand a wiki, you and a classmate could be updating the same web page at the same time! I personally like the wiki better because of its speed and the ability to change the same document.

ReplyDeleteBlogs and wikis are 2 completely different things. Blogs and wikis are both used to edit things, and complete assignments or projects.
Blogs are mainly associated with yourself only. Sure you can follow other blogs, but you can't edit other peoples content. If you could edit other people's assignments/stuff on a blog, there would be no need for wiki's.
Wiki's are highly complicated tools. If you know how to use them, then you can get so much done. If you don't know how the system works, well, good luck. On a wiki, you can do so much more than you could on a blog. You have all the same things as a blog, but you can have conversations with people, you can edit others projects, and you can get assignments done extremely fast. In a wiki, you can have more than 10 people working on the same project, at the same time. Plus, in a wiki, you can have friends like facebook. It's a really cool system.
Wiki's are clearly the more advanced out of the 2. Wiki's offer so much more and have things layed out in greater detail. The main difference between a blog and a wiki, is the layout and technology behind it.

ReplyDeleteBlogging is posting something on a web page, where a wiki is where you can share files and make a chat room to converse.
A blog is good posting things for people to see, and wiki is good for file sharing and business. A blog would be good for giving direction and updates. A wiki is good for business uses and holding an online IM. Sometimes I think Wiki might be harder to navigate around contrasted to a blog, but that's just my opinion. A blog is your own page, and a wiki is more of a group system.

Although there are not many differences between the two there are some. The biggest one I think is that on wiki you are able to go in and edit someone else’s work unlike a blog where you’d just have to make a whole new post for it. For me personally, I find the wiki a bit confusing but also helpful and easier to use when doing a big group project. I think a blog is more beneficial to post your finding from research but to actually do the project to use a wiki. Another difference is that you are unable to subscribe to other wikis. On a blog you would be able to do the same thing a wiki does by emailing post to different people but you cannot copy or edit work so everything just would get messy and unorganized which can definitely effect the outcome of the project or whatever you are working on. One other bad thing that the class experienced with wiki is that we had trouble when we were all trying to do the same thing at once so certain things weren’t working.

The differences between a blog and a wiki aren’t drastic. However, they do have some special features that the other does not. Blogs I would say are more personal than a wiki. Mainly because you have your own personal page and whatever someone else posts on it is in addition to your main topic. Wiki’s are more versatile, you can write on your own page and everyone can see it. There is no main post; it’s all combined into several posts about any topic. On a wiki you have several folders that you can click on to view different conversations. On a blog you have your page pretty much and that’s it. Also on a wiki you and whoever you’re working with can be on the same page updating it at the same time. It allows you to communicate better and more efficiently with your peers than a blog does.

ReplyDeleteBlogger and Wiki are similar but very different in various ways. For one, with Wiki you can edit your post more with colors and fonts, where as in Blogger it’s simply just black and white, one-font text. Also, in Wiki you can interact with certain people about different topics in all specific tabs. Finally in Wiki you can edit other publishers work without a problem where in Blogger you can’t. Some benefits of Blogger are you can read other publishers work without having to be a part of a “group.” In addition some benefits of a Wiki are you can edit others publishers work without having to be on the same page, you can do it from your own account wherever and whenever. Using a Blogger would be useful for using it as a tool for an online diary to share feelings, thoughts, and opinions. Where in a Wiki it is more useful to collaborate with other people to work on a project without being with each other.

The difference between a blogger and a wiki is that on a blogger you can post long things and people can comment on it. Blogger is a way to talk to other people about specific topics, and wiki is a site that allows you to work with other people online, without being in the same area as them. There are people from different countries that are on wiki together all around the world. Wiki isn’t a blogging site, like blogger is. It is useful to use a blog when you have a class assignment like this one, or when you want to talk to other people about a specific topic that relates to them too. It is useful to use a wiki when you want to work with someone on something and you can’t work on it together in the same place. It also helps that you can still communicate by commenting to each other on wiki.

Wikis are for editing content with in a group. A blog is for a website for personal uses that anyone can see. Advantages of wikis are, wikis are better for archiving information for easy access. Wikis are better at gathering information from a group of people. Benefits of blogs are, they are better at quickly sending new information, and blogs are better at starting and maintaining a dialog between publisher and reader. A blog would be useful for making a personal status bout yourself so it reaches everyone who wants to know. A wiki would be useful for planning a vacation of some kind with friends that don’t live near or that you don’t keep in contact with because you can have them in a group and individually edit a wiki. This would be hard with a blog because everyone would not be on the same page and it would all be individual work instead of as a group.
There are many differences and benefits when using a blog or a wiki. You can use either of these to communicate and complete assignments online. The difference between using a blog or wiki is that when using a wiki you can edit/change a message as you complete things in a document and send it to your friends whereas in a blog you can’t edit the post that was made. A benefit of using a blog is that you can access it anywhere! It doesn’t matter if you’re at home or at school, it is very convenient. A benefit of using a wiki is that you can share it with a group of people who can edit the post or revise the post at any point in time and or anywhere. A wiki is a very useful account to have especially for kids in school working on a project. I think the best time to use a blog is when you just want to make daily posts (basically like an online journal). The best time to use a wiki would be when you’re working on a project for school and you need to access the information or get in touch with people in your group which is easy to do when using a wiki because its accessible anywhere! Overall I think wikis are better than blogs because you get faster/easier communication and a lot of the information that is being sent around can be edited by your friends in your group so that you have more than one person’s opinion.

ReplyDeleteA blog is a Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis. A wiki is a Web site developed collaboratively by a community of user, allowing any user to add and edit content. The benefits of these are; in a blog, you can share information with the public. In a wiki, people you chose to share things with can edit what you posted and also leave comments. When using a blog vs. a wiki, it would be more useful to use a blog when you want to share information with the public and people can comment on it, such as a post on your opinions and information. In some situations it would be more useful to use a wiki when you have to do research, etc. with other people and you can collaborate with each other and share information by editing the post.

Blogs and Wiki’s are different and have many benefits in many ways. On blogs, you can post something and other people can only comment on it. Oppose to Wiki where a group of people can post a page and have several people edit and change the page. Another thing that blogs can do other than wiki’s is that you can communicate through discussion posts and wiki’s you can only communicate through comments. Some of the benefits of a blog are that you can use it to post your personal experiences or other information that you want others to know. Wiki’s are used for other people to communicate with each other and gather information that all of them need to know.
A blog basically is based on one topic and the owner of the blog posts different information about the topic. A wiki is a lot easier to use in my opinion because you can talk to people a lot faster and more efficient. On a blog you can follow people with the same interests as you, and on a wiki you can do just the same. You can talk to people from different countries and discover that they have the same interests as you. What I also like about the wiki is you can update the same file as your classmate and see how they view it.

ReplyDeleteBlogs and Wiki’s are very important on the internet. However, there are many differences between the two. Blogs are personal web pages that give voice to someone’s personal opinions and thoughts along with links to other web sites. Blogs can become useful to someone because they redefine your writing styles, increase your knowledge base, and make you a better researcher. Wiki’s are web pages that anyone can have access to. Wikipedia is the most famous form of a wiki. Anyone with a Wiki account is allowed to research an object and then change the information on a website. If another person finds the information to be false, they’re allowed to change the information as well. Wiki’s can be beneficial because it’s the most simple way to work on a project through communication and collaboration f not everyone has an e-mail or cell phone.

ReplyDeleteThe difference between a blog and a wiki is that wikis can include several people and blogs are usually written by a single person. A blog is extremely useful when you to have your own personal page. On a blog you can post what you want to say and others can comment on it but they cannot change what you have said. Wikis are useful when you want to collaborate with a group of people. On a wiki you can still post what you want to and people can comment on it but your posts can be changed. If you wanted to keep an online journal a blog would be best for you because your posts cannot be changed. If you and a group of classmates were working on a project online a wiki would be best for you because you all can work together.

Wikis and blogs can be very different, but similar too. Here are some comparisons of the two.
Wikis and blogs can be related in some ways. For instance, both websites can be contributed to by more than one person. In both there are comments and posts. Both websites also are very easy to publish on.
However, a wiki and a blog contrast, too. A wiki can be shared with many authors with different knowledge. In a blog, there is one author with one idea. Occasionally people can comment on the posts. This also makes things slow. A wiki has a much faster pace with discussions than comments and posts.
Both websites are useful to transfer knowledge and opinions; I just think wikis are more efficient at it.
the differences between a blog and a wiki is that if you use a wiki, you can communicate with the people on your team threw a text, and you all can change what is on the paper your team is writing. On a blog, you can post something but only you can edit it. then people can comment on what you posted about.
ReplyDeletethe benefits of the two, are that on a blog you can post something about a specific topic, and other people can comment on it and say what they think about it.. what benefits you can get from a wiki, is that people in your group can edit what you written about and can communicate with one another.
In a blog, you have your own personal page. Here you can write/post anything you want and other people can comment on it but they cannot change or erase what you have written. Blogs have more of a personal use than wikis do. A wiki is somewhere that you can work on group project and others can go into the file and change things. An advantage of using a blog is that it is more personal and private and you only have to post what you want to post. An advantage of a wiki, is that it is very easy to work on projects as a group and it is good for letting others see your work. When you want to post pictures and statuses, it is best to use a blog. When you want to view and edit pages written by other students, a wiki is recommended.

In a wiki you can work with others on the same project without having to be in the same room. Also you always have a chance to make your thoughts known. Unfortunately though with a wiki only one person can update it at a time, so when you are editing the page someone else may have already made the changes while you were editing the page. The benefits of using a blog are that you can share your thoughts easily, you can follow topics you’re interested in and post comments about it, and you can create your own blog that you could use for many things. Unlike a wiki though only one person can make changes to a blog. It would be more beneficial to use a wiki when working on a group project or organizing an event because everybody could make changes to the document so that the end product is something everyone has helped create, not just one individual. It would be more beneficial to use a blog though when you need to post assignments if you are a teacher, or to just stay updated on an interesting topic. Both a wiki and a blog are useful, and it is good to know how to use each because they are both helpful but in different ways.
I have recently used both blogger and wiki and I found that both are very beneficial to users; but they are different from each other. Blogger is a site you can use to write your own posts that anyone can read or follow or comment on your posts where Wiki is a site where you create a group and people in your group are the only people that can see what you posted. They are also different in the way that on blogger people cannot change what you post as were Wiki it is meant for people to change and change again by anyone in the group. Though they can both upload files, and post about whatever they like. Blogger would be most useful when you want to post things you want others to see like your opinions, information or even what you are doing. Whereas wiki would be a place where you would post things you want a group of people to see to either put feed pack on or correct.

ReplyDeleteBlogs and wikis are sometimes very similar but have many differences also. A blog is a web page that lets a user or multiple users record information, opinions, and other things. A wiki is site developed by multiple users that lets each user record and edit information easily. In a blog, only one user can edit information put into the page and other people can only comment on it from their own account. On a wiki, anyone can change the information at any time from the same site. On a blog, users can upload links to other people’s blogs or to another website, while a wiki lets people download word documents and other things onto the site for anyone to use. There are different benefits for each the blog and the wiki. On a blog, anyone can follow your page and see when you have written something new and anyone can comment freely on any blog. On a wiki, anyone can change anything which makes it easy to correct information faster and add new ideas that everyone can see. Using a blog would be useful when wanting to input opinions on a certain subject and a wiki is helpful when working on a group project.

ReplyDeleteA blog is something that you use to share your interest and things you like to do on it. You can’t really communicate real well with your other classmates though if we were to use this for the project. The wiki was a better idea to use then the blog because you can communicate real well. The one thing I don’t like about the wiki is that you can’t update the wiki at the same time as someone else. It’s very frustrating how to use it too. Half of our group’s stuff it wasn’t on the page even though they put it on. But overall I think that the wiki is better for this project.

Blogs are a way for friends or strangers to share ideas over the internet by separate posts. People can have set up their own personal blog page where they can post personal things on their page. Then, other users can see what the person has said and comment on the post.
Wiki’s are a way for friends or strangers to share ideas over the internet by single posts. What happens is a person will create a post then all of the other users apart of the group can comment and share ideas all on one single post. It’s kind of like text messaging but on a single internet page.
Benefits of a blog are it can help a person spread ideas or information across the web by others viewing your profile and leaving comments.
Benefits of a wiki are that people can work together online by conversation, even though they may be thousands of miles away.
A blog would be useful if you ran a clothes business, and you kept coming out with new clothing. Each time a new item of clothing was released people could check to see what it looks like or how much it costs by checking that blog.
A wiki would be useful for several people working together to complete a project. That way people can be online and hold conversations over there wiki team’s profile.

ReplyDeleteBlogging is a way to instantly communicate information on a certain topic using only text. They can be based off of personal opinions, or any other way someone got their information. They are a way for someone to talk about their opinions or feelings online.
Wikis are a way to post information on a given topic for the benefit of others. They can have pictures and text to display information. They are created using information gathered by research. They are not based off of opinions or feeling. They are a way to get research information online.
Both wikis and blogs are ways to find information and read about a topic. They are both created by users on the internet and can be edited by their members.
The benefits to a wiki are that you can use it from any computer anywhere and can work with groups of people from around the world. The benefits to blogging are also you can use it from any computer and share stuff with people around the world.
ReplyDeleteSome differences of blogging and using a wiki are that on a wiki you can edit what others post and what you post, when on a blog you can repost things and post things on what others posted but cannot edit what they put on there.
