Use this blog posting to share information about scholarships that you can apply for as a freshman. Please include the URL and a short description of the scholarship.

You can NOT claim the same scholarship as someone else. First come first serve!

You will find these scholarships on the various web sites that I have given you for this class.

  2. I can apply for a 'Do something Awards' scholarship. This is a scholarship worth 100,000 dollars. The Do Something Awards celebrate young people 25 and under who are tackling a problem and changing the world. There will be one $100,000 Grant Winner and up to five $10,000 Grant Winners. It would be hard, but very possible.

    Playing with Purpose Scholarship: The Playing with Purpose Scholarship is available to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who play at least one sanctioned high school sport at the varsity level. You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be a committed follower of Christ to be eligible for this award.

    To be eligible, you must be pursuing a career in landscape design / golf course architecture, golf course turf grass management / golf course superintendent, professional golf management, club professional, or sports journalism with a special interest in golf. Students involved in amateur college golf may also apply. In addition, you must demonstrate academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, and involvement in golf - related activities.

    SEFA Student Design Contest - This scolarship is worth $6,000. To enter, you must design a piece of lab furniture, or related equipment, that you believe would enhance the laboratory learning experience at school. You must also submit a maximum 500 - word essay that describes your proposed design and how it will be used to enhance the laboratory environment.

    This scholarship is for people that want to make a change in society and it has to be something that will actually make a slight difference. You can get up to a 10,00 $ grant, or a 500$ grant for something smalll, which they give out each week.

    Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship
    The Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship is open to high school seniors and first-year college students. You must be a citizen of the U.S. or Canada and be under 25 years of age to be eligible for this award. You must also submit a maximum 1000-word essay on the following topic: "Why is a healthy lifestyle important in school?"; and in under 500 words, describe your career plans, goals, and personal ambitions.

  17. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the proper year in high school (usually the junior year). Selection for this scholarship is based upon abilities, skills, accomplishment, and potential for success in rigorous college studies and beyond.     The Courageous Persuaders scholarship is for high school students to earn $250-$6000 for college. Students make a television commercial that targets middle school kids and shows them the disadvantages of underage drinking. There will be 10 scholarships given out.
