Make sure that you have completed your web site on Weebly. You will be sharing these with me on Monday. You will have no time on Monday to work on this.
Next you are to research the new Google security settings and restrictions. They can have a great impact on your life. Determine how those changes will impact you and what they mean to your personal identity on the web. Make sure you review the web history that is being tracked by Google. Review the other histories that are being tracked. How long will Google keep the history?
Use this blog posting to answer the questions above. Make sure you are doing your own work. This topic will be on the final exam!
When finished work on KeyTrain. This will be your last chance.

On March 1st 2012 Google developed a new privacy policy that basically lets them get to know their users more personally. From now on, if a user from any of Google’s programs such as: Gmail, YouTube, Blogger etc. does anything online it leaves a type of digital footprint. If you were logged into an account on YouTube and then watched a video, it would be able to be brought back up, even if it was deleted from your computers history. Freaky right? Now, say you have a meeting on your Google calendar. Google will make sure you are not late for this meeting by looking up traffic conditions, distance of meeting, and weather temperatures. Many users are scared by this new privacy rule, but I think it is kind of cool. I think that it will have a positive effect on people’s life. I think this will affect my Google and Gmail account by it tracking who I send messages to, my favorite websites, and what I have on my iGoogle account. As long as the history is not altered on the computer history can show up from searches you made 3 months ago. History can still be seen by Google as well.

ReplyDeleteAs far as Google's security settings go they now check for unusual access or activity in your account, they check for virus's and malware, they automatically sign out of your account if you access it from a different location so that you don't accidentally leave up your information on a public computer, they guard against phishing, and they make you go through a 2 step password verification process.
These are really good security settings on the web because there has been a lot of accounts that have been hacked and if more websites put up stricter security settings it could help decrease that number. With these settings I feel that my account on Google is a little safer then lets say facebook because it has more security questions and automatic sign outs that way my information isn't just sitting on a public computer or even my friends computer.
When researching how long Google holds your oldest history data mine researched all the way back to September 10th, 2011 which is awhile ago so if I needed to bring those websites back I could. Google keeps history up to a year and then it slowly deletes it as it gets full.

Google is now using a new privacy policy where they want to get to know their users better so they are asking more personal questions. Some of these questions may be unusual or unnecessary. Whenever you use one of Google's servers, it will leave a digital footprint. It can be brought back up when you sign on again even if you deleted it from your history. This means that it is never really deleted. That's a scary thought. Google also will check weather and traffic for you to make sure that you are where you need to be when you are supposed to be there. Some things about this new privacy rule can be cool, but sometimes it can also be scary. Things can be retraced a lot easier now and it is easier to search things.

Google is collecting your name, email, phone number, credit card number, device information, log information, unique application numbers, local storage and cookies and anonymous identifiers. This information helps Google improve their information that they give you when you go to research something. Some of the things Google collects range from things you provide for them, information they get from their servers, external processing and for legal reasons. Your history on Google can last up to a year and then it will start to delete on its own.

Google keeps it's history for about 10 weeks. The new settings serve phishing and malware protection. The new features also show address bar predictions and suggestions for navigational errors. Google can track or "remember" what you have recently searched if you need to quickly pull that up again. This can be done even if your history has been deleted. It can also track contacts you have recently talked to via gmail. Over time to improve its searches for the user, Google can collect data like your name, phone number, and much more.
Google has a privacy setting that asks their users questions such as your name, email, phone number, credit card number, device information, log information, unique application numbers, local storage, cookies and anonymous identifies. The information that is provided will help Google format their information so that when you research something, it will adjust to your specific settings.

ReplyDeleteGoogle has a setting that is used it to get into your account and remember all of the history for a long time to come. Google can keep the history until the history gets full then it’ll delete itself in a slower manor. Also it can use that to know your name, address or address’, your phone numbers, who you talk too, or what you spend your time doing. It keeps this history to help you search things more efficiently and easier.

ReplyDeleteOn March 1st 2012 Google changed its privacy settings. This means that it can see the content of your emails if you use Gmail, where you like to visit if you use Google Maps and if you have enabled GPS information on your cell phone. In addition it can determine what interests you, where you live, and the age range you’re in. Also when you are on Gmail, Youtube, and Blogger it leaves a digital footprint to track what you send and what types of things you look up and watch or read. It can even show searches way back to three months ago. In Google Calendars it can remind you for certain events you want to be alerted of and it can track traffic, roadblocks, and accidents so that you are on time for your event with no interruptions. In my opinion, I think this is very alarming that Google can find out so much about you just by what you simply search and I find it very intruding.

Google is now trying to get more personal information from its users in order to improve their database when searching for something on the search engine. Google is now asking for their users name, email, contact information, and other various things. This change is definitely a big one because now whatever you do on the web is tracked and you leave a digital footprint more than you did before you gave away personal info. This could be potentially dangerous because someone could now easily access this information and could track you down if they wanted to. Google is also now tracking more history and allows people to see the history from way longer ago than you could see them before. You can see months and months of history up to a year, when Google will start to delete the history as it fills up and too much history is shown.

Google's new privacy policy will track your history for about up to a year. This new way of doing things i found will be very beneficial. Google will now be more than ever protecting my accounts from viruses and malware. So like if you access one of your accounts from a different location and you accidentally leave up your information or something you do not want some getting information from, they guard it against phishing, and make you do a two-step password verification process. I will also be able to go back and look at my history, so maybe if I forgot the site name that I was on a while ago I could look on my history and try to find it. This will also affect my time on the web by making things more personalized for me. Some people do not like the change but I think if you are not trying to hide anything this is great.

Google's new privacy policy will start to lock down and protect the user's accounts, since they now ask for a lot of information, such as cell phone numbers, credit cards, other web site account information. It protects your account from phishing and viruses. The history can build up over time, and as you use more sites and the history fills up it will start to delete. Also, when you search things on google and you are logged into google accounts, when you go onto youtube it will effect your search results with what you have searched on google before.
Google has a new privacy setting that has taken affect as of March first. This has made it so that when you create a Google account you are asked many more personal questions than before. Questions such as your name, email, phone number, credit card number, device information, log information and unique application numbers. This allows Google to know its users much better than the old privacy settings used to.lastly, this effects me because it will keep my information on goolge safe from viruses and other malware better and more effeciently than before.

Google has recently changed their privacy settings and restrictions. They now ask you your name, email, phone number, credit card number, device information, log information, unique application numbers, local storage, cookies and anonymous identifies. Google is leaving a digital footprint and is starting to give out personal information. Google keeps your history up to three months. With the new privacy settings and restrictions I find it scary. I don’t want my information getting out there and I find it weird that Google tracks you every step.
Google is going is doing what a bank would do. They want all of your information like credit card numbers, and they save everything now. This can help by reducing things that are illegal like online piracy and other things. This could also damage someone's reputation because anybody can now search your name and find all your info. Not cool.

One March 1st 2012 Google changed their privacy policy. The new privacy policy impacts everyone in some way. When you make a Google account they ask your name, email address, phone number, credit cards and other information too. You can also create a public Google Profile which will include your name and photo. When you create an account you go through a two step password process so that you don’t enter the wrong password. Also if you are at one place it ends up logging you off of your account so other people cannot see your personal information such as your emails. Google is very good with keeping your information private very rarely do they show your information with another business, like Google. Google is the most used search engine. Google’s security is very good compared to face book. Face book has many hacked accounts, and Google does not. Google has stricter policy settings unlike face book. I safer with Google because they have more security questions and have you do a two step password process and not very many people’s accounts have been hacked. Another reason I feel safer is because it automatically logs me off the computer so at public places people don’t sit on the computer and go on to Google and my account will be logged off so they don’t see my personal information such as emails. Google slowly deletes history and can last up to a year or so. When you need to go back to certain places or get images or pictures from a while ago you can find it. Google will erase your history as it gets full. I am happy with the new privacy policy that Google has created.
